Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan minat dan prestasi belajar biologi melalui penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif model kooperatif tps (think pair share) padasiswakelas viii c mts negeritarakan. penelitian ini dilakukan selama 2 bulan mulai bulan mei hingga bulan juni 2011 di mts negeri tarakan. penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif model kooperatif tps (think pair share) padasiswakelas viii c mts negeritarakantahun ajaran 2010/2011 dengan jumlah 37 siswa. instrumen yang digunakan adalah pengamatan siswa,angket minat dan catatan lapangan. analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuaslitatif dan deskriptif kuantitatif. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kooperatif tps (think pair share) dapat meningkatkan minat dan prestasi belajar siswa, ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan indikator-indikator keaktifan siswa. rata-rata kemampuan kognitif siswa meningkat dari 71,08 menjadi 83,24.

The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in interest and learning achievement through the implementation of cooperative learning biology cooperative model tps (think pair share) by student class viii c mts tarakan. the research was carried out for 2 months in may to june 2011 in mts tarakan. classroom action research using the cooperative learning model of cooperative tps (think pair share) by student class viii c mts tarakan 2010/2011 academic year by the number of 37 students. the instrument used is the student observation, questionnaires and field notes of interest. analysis of the data used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative descriptive. the results showed that the cooperative tps (think pair share) can improve the process and student achievement, indicated by an increase in indicators of student activity. average cognitive abilities of students increased from 71.08 to 83.24.
