Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan model circ ( cooperative integrated reading and composition ) terhadap prestasi belajar biologi siswa kelas vii smp negeri 10 tarakan. penelitian ini dilakukan mulai bulan april sampai dengan bulan mei 2012 di smp negeri 10 tarakan. penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian eksperimen semu dengan populasi seluruh smp negeri 10 tarakan tahun pembelajaran 2011/2012 dan sampel adalah kelas vii-2 dan kelas vii-3. kelas vii-2 sebagai kelas eksperimen yang belajar menggunakan cooperative integrated reading and composition dan kelas vii-3 sebagai kelas kontrol yang belajar tidak menggunakan cooperative integrated reading and composition. teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode dokumentasi dan metode tes. data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan software spss versi 16 for windows. berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan cooperative integrated reading and composition (circ) terhadap prestasi belajar biologi siswa kelas vii smp negeri 10 tarakan. hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil perhitungan uji independent sample t-test diperoleh t hitung = 2.598 pada taraf signifikansi 0,05 dan dk 60,diperoleh nilai t tabel 2,000 berarti t hitung > t tabel (2.598 > 2,000). hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan model circ lebih baik dibandingkan yang menggunakan konvensional.

The purpose of this research is to explain the influence of circ model using towards students’ biology learning this in smp negeri 10 tarakan. the research was held from april until mey 2012 in smp negeri 10 tarakan. the research was quasi-experimental study. the population was all the students in grade vii smp negeri 10 tarakan in academic year 2011/2012 and the sample was vii-2 class and vii-3 class. vii-2 class is an experiment class that learned using circ model and vii-3 class as control class using convensional method. the technique of collecting sample in this research was using purposive sampling and technique of collecting data was using documentation method and test method. the data was analyzed by using spss 16 for windows software. based on the results of data analysis it can be concluded that the effect of the use there cooperative integrated reading and composition (circ) on learning achievement biology class vii smp negeri 10 tarakan. it can be seen from the results of the test calculations independent sample t-test t = 2.598 obtained at a significance level of 0.05 and 60 hp, the value of 2.000 means t table t count > t table (2.598 > 2.000). student learning outcomes using the model of circ is better than using the conventional. .
