Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode field trip dalam memaknai teks bacaan bagi siswa kelas sebelas di sma negeri 2 tarakan. metode penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental. sampel diperoleh dengan menggunakan purposive sampling technique. ada dua kelas yang diperoleh sebagai sampel dalam penelitian ini. kelas eksperimen diberi perlakuan dengan metode field trip dan kelas kontrol diberi perlakuan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah. instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes tertulis. data yang dianalisis adalah data nulai hasil pretest dan posttest dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan independent sample t-test dengan spss 23.0 hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen adalah 66.0 dan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol adalah 48.4. tidak hanya hasil sari independent sample t-test pada tingkat signifikansi 0,005 level, tetapi juga nilai ttable dan t-test. nilai t-table 2.000 dan nili t-test adalah 7.189. hal ini menunjukkan bahwa t-test lebih tinggi daripada t-table (7.189 > 2.000). dengan kata lain, hipotesis nol (h0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (ha) diterima. hasil analisis data membuktikan bahwa hasil pengajaran menggunakan metode field trip lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan metode ceramah. berdasarkan hasil diatas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode field trip memberikan dampak dalam meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas xi sma negeri 2 tarakan dalam memaknai suatu teks bacaan.

The objective of this research is to find out the effect of using field trip method of the students to improve students’ writing skill at the eleventh grade students of sma negeri 2 tarakan. the method of this research was quasi experimental. the samples were taken by using purposive sampling technique. there were two classes as the samples of this research. the experimental class was taught by using field trip method and control class was taught by using lecture method. the instrument of this research was writing test. the analyzed data was from pretest and posttest of the experimental class and control class. in anlzing the data, the researcher used independent sample ttest with spss 23.0. the result of the research showed that the mean score of experimental class was 66.00 and the mean score of control class was 46.84. not only the result of the independent sample t-test which was probably value was less than level of significance (0.000 < 0.05, but also the value of t-table and t-test. t-table value was 2.000 and t-test was 7.189. it indicates that the value of t-test was higher than t-table (7.189 > 2.000). in other words, the null hypothesis (h0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (ha) is accepted. the result of the analysis data proves that taught by using field trip method was higher than taching using lecture method. based on the result above, it can be concluded that field trip method gives an effect in improving the students writing skill of sma negeri 2 tarakan.
