Penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsiskan kesantunan berbahasa pada video debat calon gubernur dan calon wakil gubernur provinsi kalimantan utara tahap 1 tahun 2020. objek penelitian ini adalah video debat calon gubernur dan wakil gubernur kaltara tahun 2020. penulis mengambil objek kajian berupa perdebatan antara calon-calon yang akan menjadi gubernur dan wakil gubernur. tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bentuk kesantunan berbahasa dalam debat cagub dan cawagub adapun sumber data dalam penelitian ini berbentuk video debat cagub dan cawagub kalimantan utara tahun 2020 dan sumber data pendukung yaitu video rekaman dan transkip debat cagub dan cawagub kalimantan utara diakses melalui situs portal youtube. metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif, dengan teknik simak dan teknik catat. data tersebut dianalisis melalui teori kesantunan berbahasa lakoff dan geoffrey leech, antara lain 25 tuturan yang ada pada debat cagub dan cawagub dengan rincian 11 tuturan yang tidak santun dan 14 tuturan yang santun. tuturan yang santun adalah tuturan yang mematuhi kesantunan berbahasa, yakni 2 tuturan pada kaidah formalitas lakoff, 3 tuturan pada kaidah persamaan atau kesekawanan, 2 tuturan maksim kemurahan hati geoffrey leech, 3 tuturan maksim kesetujuan geoffrey leech, dan 4 tuturan maksim kebijkasanaan geoffrey leech. tuturan yang tidak santun adalah tuturan yang melanggar prinsip kesantunan, dengan rincian 3 tuturan kaidah formalitas lakoff, 1 tuturan kaidah persamaan lakoff, 4 tuturan maksim kebijaksanaan geoffrey leech, 2 tuturan maksim kemurahan hati geoffrey leech, dan 1 tuturan maksim kesetujuan hati geoffrey leech. dari tuturan yang telah dianalisis, peneliti menemukan bentuk-bentuk tuturan yang santun dan tidak santun dalam debat cagub dan cawagub kalimantan utara tahun 2020. 14 tuturan itu dikatakan santun karena mematuhi kaidah dan maksim yang sesuai dengan penelitian ini.

This study is to describe language politeness on the debate video of governor and the vice governor candidates of north kalimantan province stage 1 in 2020. the object of this study is the debate video of governor and vice governor candidates of north borneo in 2020. the researcher took the object of study in the form of a debate between the candidates who will become governor and vice governor. the objective was to determine the form of language politeness in the governor and the vice governor candidates’ debate while the data source was in the form of video of the governor and the vice governor candidates of north kalimantan debates in 2020 and the supporting data sources were video recordings and transcripts of the governor and the vice governor candidates of north kalimantan that accessed through the youtube portal site.the research method used was a descriptive qualitative method, with listening and note-taking techniques. the data were analyzed through lakoff and geoffrey leech's theory of language politeness, including 25 utterances in the governor and the vice governor candidates’ debate with details of 11 impolite utterances and 14 polite utterances. polite utterance is utterance that comply with language politeness, that are 2 utterances on lakoff's formality rules, 3 utterances on the rules of equality, 2 utterances of geoffrey leech's maxim of generosity, 3 utterances of geoffrey leech's maxim of agreement, and 4 utterances of geoffrey leech's maxim of tact. impolite utterance is utterance that violates the principle of politeness, with details of 3 utterances of lakoff's formality rule, 1 utterance of lakoff's rules of equality, 4 utterances of geoffrey leech's maxim of tact, 2 utterances of geoffrey leech's maxim of generosity, and 1 utterance of geoffrey leech's maxim of approbation. from the utterances that has been analyzed, the researcher found the forms of polite and impolite in the governor and the vice governor candidates of north kalimantan debate in 2020. the fourteen utterances were said to be polite because it obeyed the rules and maxims that appropriate with the research.
