Abstrak Indonesia

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan signifikan dari mengajar deskriptif teks dengan menggunakan metode student teams achievement division (stad) pada kelas delapan di smp muhammadiyah 2 tarakan. metode penelitian ini adalah pre-eksperimental. sampel diperoleh dengan menggunakan purposive sampling technique. kelas viii-d sebagai sampel kelas yang terdiri dari 30 siswa. jumlah populasi adalah 117 siswa. tes yang digunakan mencakup pretest dan posttest. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hasil perbedaan yang signifikan dari nilai rata – rata siswa antara pretest dan posttest. ini dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata, dimana nilai 55.00 pada pretest dan nilai 63.50 pada posttest. selisih nilai adalah 8.5. nilai rata – rata pada posttest lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan nilai rata-rata pretest. hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari nilai kemampuan membaca teks siswa antara pretest dan posttest. sedangkan hasil dari paired sample test menunjukkan bahwa nilai t-test 2.358 lebih tinggi dari t-table 2.045. selisih nilai adalah 0.313. dengan demikian, 2.358 > 2.045 berarti h a diterima dan h 0 ditolak. berdasarkan hasil diatas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penelitian dengan metode student teams achievement divisions (stad) efektif dalam mengajar deskriptif teks pada siswa kelas delapan di smp muhammadiyah 2 tarakan.

The objective of this research was to find out the significant difference in teaching reading of descriptive text by using student teams achievement divisions (stad) method at the eighth grader of smp muhammadiyah 2 tarakan. the research of was pre-experiment. the sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique, class viii-d was as the sample class which consisted 30 students. the total number of population was 117 students. the instrument was reading test that included pretest and posttest. the result of the research showed that there were significant difference of students’ mean scores between pretest and posttest. it was proved by the mean score 55.00 in pretest and 63.50 in posttest. the gain score was 8.5 points. the mean score of posttest was higher than pretest. it indicated that there was significant difference in teaching reading of students’ score between pretest and posttest. while the result of paired sample test showed that t-test computation was 2.358 higher than t-table 2.045. the gain of the score is 0.313 points. thus 2.358 > 2.045 it meant h a was accepted and h 0 was rejected. based on those result above, it can be concluded that student teams achievement divisions (stad) method is effective in teaching reading of descriptive text at eighth grader students of smp muhammadiyah 2 tarakan.
