Cryptocurrency merupakan suatu bentuk inovasi terbaru pada bidang teknologi berbentuk kriptografi. mata uang virtual yang berfungsi sebagai alat transaksi pembayaran menggunakan sistem desentralisasi dengan sifat anonimitas tinggi, sehingga sangat sulit untuk mengetahui identitas pengguna dan transaksi apa saja yang dilakukan didalamnya. hal yang membuka peluang bagi para pelaku kejahatan korupsi. akibatnya, cryptocurrency menimbulkan berbagai macam pro dan kontra mengenai regulasi akan legalitasnya di setiap negara. suatu fenomena global yang sudah seharusnya tidak lagi diabaikan terutama mengenai tingkat pengendalian korupsi yang diterapkan oleh suatu negara sebagai suatu bentuk pencegahan. oleh karena itu, tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana legalitas cryptocurrency membuka peluang bagi peningkatan korupsi dan bagaimana tingkat pengendalian korupsi yang diterapkan oleh suatu negara dalam rangka antisipasi terhadap penggunaan cryptocurrency secara ilegal. menggunakan data sekunder dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif yaitu sebanyak 121 negara. kemudian data tersebut diolah dengan metode analisis regresi linier sederhana, mra dan ancova, dimana hasil menunjukkan bahwa: (1) tingkat pengendalian korupsi secara signifikan berpengaruh positif terhadap indeks persepsi korupsi; (2) legalitas cryptocurrency berpengaruh positif terhadap indeks persepsi korupsi; (3) legalitas cryptocurrency tidak mempunyai pengaruh terhadap hubungan antara tingkat pengendalian korupsi dan indeks persepsi korupsi.

Cryptocurrency is a form of the latest innovation in the field of cryptographic technology. the virtual currency that functions as a payment transaction tool uses a decentralized system with a high anonymity nature, so it is very difficult to know the user's identity and what transactions are carried out therein. things that open up opportunities for perpetrators of corruption. as a result, cryptocurrency raises a variety of pros and cons regarding the regulation of legality in each country. a global phenomenon that should no longer be ignored, especially regarding the level of corruption control implemented by a country as a form of prevention. therefore, the purpose of this article is to find out the extent to which the legality of cryptocurrency opens opportunities for increased corruption and how the level of corruption control applied by a country in anticipation of the illegal use of cryptocurrency. using secondary data with quantitative descriptive methods, as many as 121 countries. then the data is processed by simple linear regression analysis methods, mra and ancova, where the results show that: (1) corruption control level has a significant positive effect on the corruption perception index; (2) legality of cryptocurrency has a positive effect on corruption perception index; (3) the legality of cryptocurrency has no effect on the relationship between the level of corruption control and the corruption perception index.
