Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari keefektifan dari menggunakan example non example untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa kelas delapan di smp negeri 3 tarakan. penelitian ini berbentuk percobaan (pra-eksperiment). peneliti mencari perbedaan dari pencapaian siswa dikelas sebelum dan setelah diajarkan menggunakan example non example. subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa di kelas 8.1 yang berjumlah 32 siswa smp negeri 3 tarakan pada tahun pembelajaran 2021/2022. instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes tertulis pra tes dan pos tes. disamping itu, peneliti menggunakan deskriptif analisis untuk menganalisis data dan spss 24.0 digunakan untuk analisis statistic. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan skor rata-rata antara pra tes dan pos tes. hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil skor rata-rata siswa. skor mereka adalah 69.61 di pra tes dan 86.84 di pos tes. artinya, peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 17.23. dapat dilihat bahwa peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa pada pos tes lebih tinggi daripada pra tes dan menunjukkan ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari nilai mendengarkan siswa antara pra tes dan pos tes. hasil dari paired sample test menunjukkan bahwa t-test adalah 12.939 lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (2.040). sehingga 12.393 > 2.040 jadi ha diterima dan ho ditolak. kemudian dapat disimpulkan bahwa example non example terbukti efektif meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa kelas delapan di smp tarakan.

The purpose of this study was to find out the effectiveness of using example non-example to improve the writing ability of eight grade students at smp negeri 3 tarakan. this research was in the form of an experiment research (pre-experiment). researchers look for differences in student achievement in class before and after being taught using example non-example. the subjects of this study were students in class of 8-1 with total number of 32 students of smp negeri 3 tarakan in academic year of 2021/2022. the instrument used was a written test which consisted of pre-test and post-test. in addition, the researcher used descriptive analysis to analyze the data and spss 24.0 for statistical analysis. the results showed that there was a difference in the average score between the pre-test and post-test. it was proven by the results of the students average score. their scores were 69.61 in pre-test and 86.84 in post-test. the enhancement of student average was 17.23. it can be seen that the increase in the average score of students on the pro-test was higher than the pre-test. it indicated that there was a significant difference in the students' writing scores between the pre-test and post-test. the results of the paired sample test show that the t-test was 12,939 higher than the t-table (2,040). so that 12,393>2,040, so ha was accepted and ho was rejected. then it can be concluded that example non-example was proven to be effective in improving the writing ability on second grade students at smp negeri 3 tarakan
