Penelitian pengaruh jumlah tanaman dan jenis media tanam terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman mentimun (cucumis sativus l.) bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jumlah tanaman dan jenis media tanam terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman mentimun (cucumis sativus l.). dilaksanakan di kelurahan pantai amal kecamatan tarakan timur. penelitian ini dilakukan dengan rancangan acak kelompok (rak) 2 faktor yaitu jumlah tanaman dan jenis media tanam diulang sebanyak 3 kali sehingga terdapat 12 kombinasi perlakuan. data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan sidik ragam dan di uji lanjut dengan uji jarak berganda duncan taraf 5%. hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian jenis media tanam memberikan pengaruh nyata pada pertumbuhan tanaman dan tidak berpengaruh nyata pada produksi mentimun serta perlakuan jumlah tanaman berpengaruh nyata pada beberapa parameter pertumbuhan dan produksi. selain itu jenis media tanam dan jumlah tanaman yang banyak berpengaruh nyata adalah media cocopead + arang sekam dan 1 tanaman, kedua faktor tersebut menunjukan adanya interaksi nyata pada parameter tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, panjang buah, berat buah dan berat total buah. berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan jenis media tanam (m4) mampu memenuhi kebutuhan unsur hara bagi tanaman mentimun dan aplikasi 1 tanaman per polibag memberikan hasil produksi mentimun terbaik. interaksi media tanam cocopead + arang sekam dengan 1 tanaman mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman mentimun. kata kunci: media tanam, jumlah tanaman, mentimun

This study aimed to determine the effect of number of plants and types of planting media on the growth and production of cucumber (cucumis sativus l.). this research was conducted in the pantai amal, east tarakan using a randomized group design (rbd) with 2 factors, namely the number of plants and the type of planting media were repeated 3 times so that there were 12 treatment combinations. the data were analyzed by analysis of variance and tested further by duncan’s multiple range test of 5%. the results showed that the administration of planting media had a significant influence on plant growth, had no significant effect on cucumber production, and the number of plants had a significant effect on several growth and production parameters. the type of planting media and the number of plants that had more significant effect were cocopead + charcoal husks and 1 plant. both of these factors showed a real interaction on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, fruit length, fruit weight and total weight of the fruit. it was concluded that the use of the type of planting media (m4) was able to meet nutrient requirements for cucumber plants and application of 1 plant per polybag provided the best cucumber production results. the interaction of planting media cocopead + charcoal husk with 1 plant was able to increase the growth and production of cucumber plants. keywords: growing media, number of plants, cucumber
