
Improving Tenth Grade Students’ Achievement In Writing Of Procedure Text Through Realia At SMA Patra Dharma Tarakan

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan seluruh siswa kelas sepuluh didalam menulis teks prosedur melalui realia di sma patra dharma tarakan tahun pembelajaran 2013/2014. penelitian ini dikategorikan sebagai penelitian tindakan kelas. penulis bekerjasama dengan guru bahasa inggris dalam melaksanakan penelitian ini. penelitian tindakan kelas berdasarkan model kemmis and mc.taggart. peneletian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus dimana dalam tiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, penerapan, observasi dan refleksi. pengumpulan data diambil melalui data kuantitatif. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks prosedur. hal ini dapat dilihat mean score di siklus pertama adalah 60,2 . mean score di siklus dua adalah 65.05. selanjutnya ada 9 siswa (40%) yang mencapai nilai kkm pada siklus pertama dan pada siklus kedua ada 22 siswa (81%) yang mencapai kkm, sehingga kriteria ketuntasan telah tercapai. selain itu, dari hasil observasi dan intereview diketahui bahwa ada peningkatan dan perkembangan yang positif dalam proses belajar mengajar teks prosedur. kesimpulannya diketahui bahwa ada perkembangan dalam menulis teks prosedur dan siswa lebih termotivasi dalam proses belajar mengajar.

This study aimed to improve tenth grade students’ ability in writing of procedure text through realia at sma patra dharma tarakan academic year 2013/2014. this study is categorized as classroom action research. the researcher worked collaboratively with the english teacher in the class. the classroom action research was done based on kemmis and mc.taggart design. the research was done in two cycles, in which each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. the data were gathered through quantitative data.the finding of this study showed that there was improvement on the students’ ability in writing procedure text. it can be seen from the means score of the first cycle which was 60,2 and the mean score of the second cycle which was 64.88. in addition there were 9 students (40%) who passed kkm in the first cycle. in the second cycle there were 18 students (67%) who passed kkm, so criteria of success was achieved. it showed that there was improvement of positive responses in the teaching learning process of writing procedure text. related to the result of observation and interview, it can be concluded that the students’ ability in writing procedure text improved and the students’ were motivated in the teaching learning process by using realia.
