Abstrak Indonesia

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan perbedaan nilai sebelum dan sesudah implementasi model think pair and share terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa pada kelas delapan di smpn 10 tarakan. penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian pre-experimental. populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas delapan di smpn 10 tarakan pada tahun akademik 2016/2017, purposive sampling technique dipilih dalam penentuan sampel. sampel yang terpilih adalah kelas viii-1 yang terdiri dari 28 siswa. teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan berbicara. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan dari nilai siswa sebelum dan setelah perlakuan. hal ini dibuktikan dengan perbedaan nilai tengah dari sebelum dan setelah perlakuan serta perhitungan paired samples t-test. peningkatan nilai dari pretest dan posttest adalah 14.57 point. kemudian, hasil dari paired samples test, nilai dari t-test (6,074) lebih tinggi dari nilai t-table (2,052). dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model think pair and share efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa dalam teks recount pada siswa kelas delapan di smpn 10 tarakan.

The objective of this research was to determine the difference score before and after the teacher’s implementation of think pair and share model on student’s speaking skill at eighth grade students in smpn 10 tarakan. the design of this research was pre-experimental research. population in this research was all of the students in eighth grade students in smpn 10 tarakan in academic year of 2016/2017, purposive sampling technique was chosen to determine the sample. the sample was viii-1 which were consist of 28 students. the technique of collecting data used by the researcher was speaking skill test. the research result showes that there was a significant difference of the student’s score before and after treatment. it was proven with the mean from pretest to posttest and calculation of paired samples t-test. the improvement of the mean score from pretest to posttest was 14.57 points. then, the result of paired samples test, the value of t-test (6,074) was higher than the value of t-table (2,052). from this result can be concluded that the think pair and share model was effective in improving student’s speaking skill of the eighth grade students at smpn 10 tarakan.
