
Reading Strategies Used By Students At The Eighth Grade Of SMPN 11 Tarakan

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis strategi membaca yang digunakan oleh siswa pada kelas delapan di smpn 11 tarakan. metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan objek penelitian adalah siswa kelas delapan smpn 11 tarakan. sampel penelitian diambil dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 83 siswa. teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan wawancara. untuk menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan tiga langkah dari miles dan huberman, yaitu: data condensation, data display, dan conclusion drawing/verification. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga strategi membaca yang paling sering digunakan siswa seperti: questioning (88%), searching & selecting (86%), dan visualizing & organizing (82%). berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa questioning menjadi strategi membaca yang paling dominan digunakan oleh siswa. sedangkan strategi yang umumnya tidak digunakan oleh siswa adalah monitoring & clarifying (35%). kata kunci: membaca, strategi membaca, pemahaman membaca
Abstrak Indonesia
The objective of this study was to analyze the reading strategies employed by eighth-grade students at smpn 11 tarakan. the research method used was descriptive qualitative, with the subjects being eighth-grade students at smpn 11 tarakan. a total sampling technique was used to select the sample of this research, with a sample size of 83 students. data collection techniques included questionnaires and interviews. to analyze the data, the researcher employed the three-step process from miles and huberman: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. the results of the study indicated that there were three reading strategies most frequently used by the students such as questioning (88%), searching & selecting (86%), and visualizing & organizing (82%). based on these results, it can be concluded that questioning is the most dominant reading strategy that students apply. conversely, the strategy generally not used by students was monitoring and clarifying (35%). keywords: reading, reading strategies, reading comprehension
