
Improving Student’s Speaking Skill By Using Community Language Learning Approach At Eighth Grade SMP N 10 Tarakan

Community language learning adalah sebuah metode dimana guru menjadi seorang conselor didalam kelas, sehingga hubungan antara guru dan siswa lebih banyak kearah praktek bahasa inggris didalam kelas. tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara bahasa inggris siswa dengan menggunakan metode community language learning dikelas delapan smp n 10 tarakan dan untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi siswa terkait penggunaan metode tersebut. penelitian ini menggunakan desain classroom action research d bengan total dua siklus dan setiap siklus ada empat pertemuan, serta melibatkan partisipan sebanyak 25 orang siswa kelas viii - 4. data penelitian diperoleh dari data observasi, wawancara dan hasil speaking test siswa. data dianalisa secara kualitatif dengan menggunkan deskriptif statistik dan secara kualitatif dengan tematik analisis. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada siklus pertama siswa yang berhasil memperoleh nilai diatas kkm adalah 44% dari total siswa dan untuk siklus kedua meningkat sebanyak 84% dari total jumlah siswa. tantangan dalam menggunkan metode community language learning adalah: kesiapan guru dan siswa, media ajar dan evaluasi kemampuan speaking siswa dikarenakan kondisi alokasi waktu yang terbatas. kata kunci: kemampuan berbicara siswa, metode community language learning, peningkatan siswa, car.

Community language learning is a method where the teacher becomes a counsellor in the classroom, so that the relationship between teacher and students is more towards the practice of english in the classroom. the purpose of this study is to improve students' english-speaking skills by using the community language learning method in the eighth grade of smp n 10 tarakan and to describe students' responses related to the use of the method. this study used classroom action research design consisting of two cycles and each cycle had four meetings, and involved 25 students of class vii - 4. the research data were obtained from observation data, interviews and students' speaking test results. the data were analyzed qualitatively by using descriptive statistics and qualitatively by thematic analysis. the results showed that in the first cycle students who scored above the kkm were 44% of the total students and for the second cycle it increased by 84% of the total number of students. the challenges in using the community language learning method are: teacher and student readiness, teaching media and evaluation of students' speaking ability due to limited time allocation conditions. keywords: speaking skill, community language learning method improvement, car
