Fokus pada penelitian ini adalah deskripsi peran kepala sekolah sebagai pencipta iklim dalam melaksanakan gerakan literasi sekolah di sdn 037 tarakan dan manfaat penerapan gerakan literasi sekolah terhadap minat baca siswa. jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang dilaksanakan di sdn 037 tarakan pada tahun ajaran 2017/2018.sumber penelitian adalah data primer dan data sekunder. informan pada penelitian ini adalah kepada sekolah, guru kelas rendah dan guru kelas tinggi dan staf perpustakaan. teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. berdasarkan analisis data dan pembahasan hasil penelitian pada fokus pertama yaitu deskripsi peran kepala sekolah sebagai pencipta iklim dalam melaksanakan gerakan literasi sekolah di sdn 037 tarakan dapat diketahui bahwa peran kepala sekolah sebagai pencipta iklim dalam melaksanakan gerakan literasi sekolah meliputi mengatur lingkungan kerja disekolah, mengatur suasanan kerja disekolah, dan menerapkan prinsip penghargaan dan hukuman. fokus kedua yaitu manfaat penerapan pelaksanaan gerakan literasi sekolah terhadap minat baca siswa yang dapat dilihat dari kemampuan minat baca siswa, dan pengaruh frekuensi membaca. kata kunci: peran kepala sekolah sebagai pencipta iklim dalam melaksanakan gls
