Permasalahan penelitian : (1) bagaimanakah karakteristik petani jagung manis (zea mays saccaratha l.) di kelompok tani kuncup mekar kelurahan juata kerikil kota tarakan ?. (2) bagaimanakah kinerja usahatani jagung manis (zea mays saccaratha l.) di kelompok tani kuncup mekar kelurahan juata kerikil kota tarakan ?. tujuan penelitian : (1) menganalisis karakterisik petani jagung manis (zea mays saccaratha l.) di kelompok tani kuncup mekar kelurahan juata kerikil kota tarakan (2) menganalisis kinerja usahatani jagung manis (zea mays saccaratha l.) di kelompok tani kuncup mekar kelurahan juata kerikil kota tarakan. metode yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisis kuantitatif seperti biaya, penerimaan, keuntungan, r/c ratio dan bep. berdasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh kesimpulan sebagai berikut : (1) karakteristik responden di kelompok tani kuncup mekar terbagi menjadi 6 yaitu karakteristik responden berdasarkan umur berada pada kisaran 30-64 tahun sebanyak 31 petani, berdasarkan lama berusahatani responden bervariasi antara 5-44 tahun, berdasarkan pendidikan sebagian besar responden telah menyelesaikan pendidikan formal tingkat sekolah menengah sebanyak 17 orang, berdasarkan jumlah tanggungan keluarga sebagian besar responden memiliki tanggungan lebih dari 3 orang, berdasarkan luas lahan responden didominasi oleh petani yang memiliki luas lahan 1 ha dan berdasarkan pekerjaan utama sebanyak 19 orang responden menganggap bertani sebagai pekerjaan utamanya. (2) analisis kinerja usahatani berdasarkan analisis keragaan di peroleh luas panen terbanyak sebesar 0,25 ha, produktivitas usahatani sebesar 1,596 ton/ha, keuntungan usaha yang diperoleh rata-rata sebesar rp 2.992.500 untuk setiap petaninya. berdasarkan analisis finansial didapat nilai r/c ratio sebesar 1,9 atau lebih besar dari 1, nilai titik impas diperoleh bep unit mencapai 36 kg lebih kecil dari jumlah produksi dikelompok tani yaitu sebesar 399 kg, bep harga mencapai nilai rp 3.888 lebih kecil dibandingkan dengan harga jual yang berlaku sebesar rp 7.500 dan bep penerimaan sebesar rp 270.179 lebih kecil dari penerimaan sebesar rp 2.992.500 maka usahatani yang dilakukan dikatakan layak. saran yang dapat diberikan adalah : (1) petani memperluas lahan yang digunakan untuk usahatani jagung manis agar dapat meningkatkan skala produksi usahataninya. (2) perlu kiranya dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai kinerja usahatani jagung manis dengan memperluas cakupan wilayah penelitian tidak hanya terbatas pada kelompok tani, sehingga mampu memberikan gambaran kinerja usahatani secara lebih luas.

Research problems: (1) what are the characteristics of sweet corn (zea mays saccaratha l.) farming group of kuncup mekar in sub-district juata kerikil, tarakan city ? (2) how is the performance of sweet corn (zea mays saccaratha l.) farming group of kuncup mekar in sub-district juata kerikil, tarakan city ?. the objectives of the research were : (1) to analyze the characteristics of sweet corn (zea mays saccaratha l.) farming group of kuncup mekar in sub-district juata kerikil, tarakan city. (2) analyzie the performance of sweet corn (zea mays saccaratha l.) farming group of kuncup mekar in sub-district juata kerikil, tarakan city. the method used is descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis such as costs, acceptance, profit, r/c ratio and bep. based on the results of the analysis the following conclusions are obtained: (1) the characteristics of respondents in the farmer group kuncup mekar are divided into 6 that is the characteristics based on the respondents age in the range of 30-64 years as many as 31 farmers, based on the duration of the respondent’s varies between 5-44 years, based on education 17 respondents have completed formal education, based on the number of dependents of the family most of the respondents have more dependents 3 people, based on the land area of respondents dominated by farmers who have a land area of 1 ha and based on the main work of 19 respondents consider farming as the main job. (2) the analysis of farming performance is divided into two that is based on the analysis of the performance of the harvested area of 0,25 ha, the productivity of 1,596 tons/ha, the average business profit of rp 2.992.500 for every farmers. based on the financial analysis, the value of r/c ratio of 1,9 or greater than 1, thee breakeven point (bep) reaches 36 kg smaller than the amount of production in the group of farmers that equal to 399 kg, bep price reaches rp 3.888 smaller than the prevailing selling price of rp 7.500 and bep revenue of rp 270.449 is less than rp 2.992.500, so the farming is feasible. suggestions that can be given are: (1) farmers expanded the land used for sweet corn the scale of production of farming. (2) it is necessary to conduct further research on the performance of sweet corn farming by expanding the scope of the study area not only limited to farmer groups, so it would to provide a broader picture of farming performance.
